On last Tuesday, VMware announced its second-quarter profit and showed that it’s jumped 53 % which matching Wall Street’s expectations. But the forecast of the third-quarter sales which is between $462 million and $468 million was way below the $497.3 million that was projected.

VMware became public last August and raised more than one billion dollars in its initial offering; its shares were about $57.71 at that time, then it reached its peak on October 31, 2007 to reach $124.83 to see them now at a price of about $35.00.

VMware announced that it has completed the acquisition of B-hive Networks. B-hive is privately-held performance application management Software Company. Its headquarters in San Mateo, California, and principal R&D facilities located at Herzliya, Israel. VMware claims that it had announced a definitive agreement to acquire B-hive on 28-05-2008.

VMware also says that with this acquisition, it will leverage the B-hive technology and team to improve its portfolio of infrastructure management and application products by offering proactive performance management and service level reporting for applications running within the virtual machines. VMware explains that B-hive technology brings insight into the performance of applications and the ability to automate changes using the company’s datacenter virtualization and management suite, VMware Infrastructure, to reallocate resources as needed to ensure service level objectives. In addition, with this acquisition, B-hive’s R&D facility and team will form the core of the VMware’s new development center located in Israel.
