Oracle Utilities are feeling major shifts in its way of operations that is because the rapid increasing in the DERs (Distributed Energy Resources) such as storage system, electric vehicles, solar PVs, and connected household devices for instance issues with aging water and gas pipelines.

New energy sources and increase monitoring of aging pipelines have produced more silos data, than ever before and that’s why it is an extremely challenging job to make the transition to customer-centric grid.

Rodger Smith, senior Vice President and general manager, Oracle Utilities, Said: “The most successful utilities will embrace the emergence of a customer-centric network, and have a strategic vision of how technology can support it; In the first transitional phase, utilities built billions of dollars of infrastructure over several decades. Then, with the advent of sensors and SCADA, we got better data and point-in-time visibility. Now we are in an age of predictive analytics, multiple new data streams from edge devices, and more complex real-time switching. We view our NMS solution as a platform that manages all aspects of the grid—from the customer’s living room to the utility back office.”

Oracle Network Management System 2.3 allows the utilities to aggregate the data from the many different network assets using the single interface with the detailed visibility for the any network operations. It is the first time that utilities have network and its asset data, two-way of distributed energy resource (DER) data, advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) data, Distribution Management System (DMS) data, and outage management system (OMS) data. These all the resources are coming in a single interface that helps to make more suitable and meaningful analysis and the decision.
