IBM kick-starts the Alert Notification Service for Bluemix

This useful service is a  great addition in the IBM cloud computing services as it is an easy to use and very simple notification system for IT operation team members that use multiple monitoring tools.

IBM alert  IBM has recently launched the “Alert Notification Service” which is the response to the increasing demand of the customers who works on multiple monitoring tools at the same time. This alert service will enable the users to get an instant notification if any kind of issue arises in your IT working environment. This new cloud computing service will help you in optimizing the performance of your business and it will increase the satisfaction level of the customers by providing instant response to any issue.

Because IBM Alert Notification is provided as a service, the required server infrastructure is installed and managed by IBM, reducing your time-to-value and offering low-maintenance ownership” Dev Ambasna, business programs and social lead for IT Ops at IBM, wrote in his blog post.

“IBM Alert Notification offers easy-to-implement filtering of alerts, for example on the severity of problems, so that you can focus on the real problems and disregard the “noise” in your IT environment” he further said.

This alert service provides you customization options so that you can easily focus on that issues which are severed in nature and avoid those problems which are not important or critical at that point of time. The cloud computing notification service also helps you in creating custom groups so that you can easily reflect the structure of your enterprise. It will enable the system to send right notification to the right staff member who can resolve the problem easily.

IBM made it easy for their cloud computing customers to define which alert notification should reach you. You can create the filters which will enable you to get only those alerts, which are related to your IT operations environment. The unacknowledged alerts will go to the appropriate person after a set period of time.

You can also supervise the status of alert notifications online, you can also perform actions to respond them and track them whether they are resolved or not. This service will also enable you to track the history of the alerts to find any pattern in the problems.

Oracle Acquires StackEngine to Expand Its Cloud Services Portfolio

StackEngine team assists the ops teams with docker, the open source container system, which will add a great power to Oracle cloud capabilities.

Stackengine Oracle Oracle’s cloud computing services doesn’t have the level of container service offerings as by the Amazon or Microsoft Azure. It is because the Oracle is serious about its public cloud; there is a greater need of good container service offerings.

The Oracle has already implied that 2016 will be a very different year for the company and cloud business is a serious concern for their company. Containers are now an undeniable and indispensable part of the public cloud computing service. If Oracle knows that to deliver a public cloud computing service successfully, they will need container support and container advancement in the offerings.

The StackEngine discussed it last year and they also explained its tools of working, there is an administration system that permits an ops team to see what is going inside the containers across the whole organization no matter where they are running.

It is very much understandable that this service will be very much useful for the company like Oracle and its large numbers of customers. The product range of the StackEngine has free as well as paid versions of its product, it can be imagined that these products will become more powerful under the umbrella of Oracle. It is also confirmed that the Oracle is interested in hiring the creative team of StackEngine.

It is not difficult to find dedicated engineers who are expert in using the container or who can learn and use them well. The difficult task is to find people who are creative and who can bring something new with the use of technology. The most creative people can be found in these kinds of startups.

The company also announces that it is now buying accommodation nearby where Oracle’s cloud employees could live.  It is a brilliant way to show their commitment to their work.

AWS Launches the General Availability of EC2 Container Registry in Its Service Portfolio

Amazon has opened its fully managed Docker Container Registry, which will make it easy for the developers to store and manage and deploy application container images.  Amazon Web Service has announced that it ECR is now open to all interested cloud operators. Previously the AWS EC2 was completely for the insiders who attended its launch at AWS reinvent conference earlier this year in October. Now AWS decides to provide this service to the general public. This news was announced by its Senior Product Manager Andrew Thomas on the official blog of AWS in his guest blog post.

“We built Amazon ECR because many of you told us that running your own private Docker image registry presented many challenges like managing the infrastructure and handling large scale deployments that involve pulling hundreds of images at once” Andrew Thomas wrote in the official blog of AWS.

ECR, is a handled Docker container registry which is designed to make simpler the organization of Docker container images which has proved complicated by the most experienced developers. Operation of a Docker image registry involves pulling of hundreds of images at once, which makes the self hosting too difficult, especially on the huge level work like an infrastructure project. It becomes more difficult with when the complexity of spanning two or more AWS regions is also added. AWS clients wanted complete and easy access control to images without having to manage certificates or credentials and ECR is the perfect solution for it.

“Amazon ECR was designed to meet all of these needs and more. You do not need to install, operate, or scale your own container registry infrastructure. Amazon ECR hosts your images in a highly available and scalable architecture, allowing you to reliably deploy containers for your applications. Your images are transferred to the registry over HTTPS and automatically encrypted at rest in S3” he wrote.

He further wrote that there are no charges for moving the data into the Amazon EC2 Container Registry. The storage cost is as low as 10 cents per gigabyte per month. All new AWS clients will receive 500MB of storage a month for a year.

The Registry is integrated with Amazon ECS and the Docker CLI (command line interface), in order to make simpler the progress and creation workflows. Another facility for the customers is that they can push container images to Amazon ECR by using the Docker CLI from the development engine and Amazon ECS can pull them directly for production.
