Google Introduces New Key Management Service in Its Beta Version Cloud Platform

This new key management service will help regulate industries especially like health care and banking sectors.

Google announced that It is launching a new key management system in its beta launching of cloud platform that will help various enterprises, especially healthcare and banking industries. Using this news service Industries will be able to create, use, rotate and destroy their encryption keys throughout the cloud. Google competently named the service as Google cloud key management service or cloud KMS now available as beta in Google selected countries list.

The traditional industries and enterprises managed their encryption keys on-premise, now as the industries intent is growing towards the cloud day by day, so all the enterprises are thinking about the managing their keys in the cloud. Google has already launched the very basic version of cloud KMS for its customers who wants to use their own encryption keys.

Maya Kaczorowski, the product manager at Google. She told, that as you remember the Google is already encrypting all the data on its platform, but if any enterprise or company wants to control over the encryption key and its management then the new beta launching is suitable options for those companies and enterprises.

Maya Kaczorowski also wrote on its blog post: “As an alternative to custom-built or ad-hoc key management systems, which are difficult to scale and maintain, Cloud KMS makes it easy to keep your keys safe.”

Google Cloud KMS users can also store some other secrets such as O-Auth tokens, service credentials configurations, etc. Google cloud KMS is also aware you if any fraud detection reveals regarding the damaging of your secure data.

Maya Kaczorowski added: “We want to be able to be in the serving path of our customers, We want to enable people to encrypt things they were not able to before.”

Google will charge the customers on the base on the number of encryption keys user has stored. The key charges are very reasonable numbers as ($0.06 per active key for a month)  and how often the key used, it is also matters as ($0.03 per key usage for 10,000 operations).

Maya Kaczorowski also told that the Google has no any issue regarding handling of keys and users’ secrets. Google has very suitable architecture to easily manage and handle as much as keys and secrets have. She said: “From the get-go, we architected it to allow customers to use as many keys as they want to”.
