Rackspace Cloud Hosting Provider Company Launches ‘Linux for Ladies’ Training Program

The purpose of this project is two pronged, to strengthen the availability of trained resources, and help the ladies to make their strong way into the domain of cloud hosting technology.

GREATRESPONDER.COM – It was announced by the Rackspace cloud hosting provider at an event named as ‘Women in Networking’ last weekend that it is going to launch a training program that focuses on the ladies human resources to train them for getting jobs in the domain of cloud hosting and networking technologies.

Talking about the details, the company further elaborated that this program will be started from the first week of June 2014 and will continue for eight weeks without any interruption. The timings of the training course will be from 8:30 AM to 05:00 PM during the weekdays – Monday through Friday. It was further explained that the ladies with at least a high school diploma and 18 years or above of age are eligible for this program. Applicants are also required to have CompTIA network plus certificate to participate this program.

The diversity program manager at Rackspace further said, “We are trying rigorously to strengthen the presence of women in this highly paid domain of jobs. This program will not only focus on the strengthening the women workforce in cloud hosting technology, but also to make sure that a sufficient technical human resource needed in the cloud marketplace is available for the industry”. He further added that “the average national salary of a Linux System Administrator (I) is very competitive at as much as $57000 and for seniors the average is even higher. This training program will help ladies get jobs in this highly paid area of jobs.

Meanwhile, the Rackspace cloud hosting announced 20 scholarships for women, these 20 scholarships will be based on the merit basis. The successful candidates for these scholarships will get training without any fee.

It is very important to note that Rackspace has already successfully completed such training project about one year back. That program was also run at Rackspace Open Cloud Academy in Weston Center, San Antonio.

According to the operations manager at Rackspace Academy, Mr. Deborah Carter, “The Rackspace hired as many as 31 graduates of the previous training program, in which 110 candidates were successful to get their graduation certificates.”

It is anticipated that a substantial number of lady graduates of this program will also get jobs in the Rackspace company.
