Watson to be Offered as Cloud-Based Application Development Platform – Says IBM

Watson-IBMGreatresponder.com — It was announced by the IBM company that its well known computing system based on artificial intelligence is going to be made available through cloud as an application development, testing and serving platform for the developers, startup companies and other businesses to offer applications powered by the Watson platform. This supercomputer was the amazing application based system used in the ‘TV Show Jeopardy’ back in the year 2011 with marvelously successful results.

According to the statement by the Big Blue, this platform is going to be very useful for both the developers and those users who are in search for answers and advices on different domains based on the human behaviors. The developers can unleash the power of the Watson cloud platform to understand the nuance of human languages and utilize the data crunching capabilities develop wonderful applications that can set a new direction for both the developers and learners. The company has toned this platform as “IBM Watson Developer’s Cloud”.

It is further said that IBM would offer the different kinds of capabilities and resources to the developers under this platform; a few of them were – the developer tool kits, access to the interface of ‘Watson’s Application Programing’ and educational materials and others. The developers on this cloud computing based platform, would also be able to get the access to the “IBM Watson Content Store”, which stores the content from the third parties.

The pricing plans and other details were not disclosed by the company as yet – but it is very imperative that the initial schemes would be very reasonable owing the existing fierce competition in the marketplace of cloud computing based services.

This platform would support not only the development, testing and training, and deployment of the applications but will also allow the business people, startups and developers to market and do business through their applications powered by IBM cloud platform.

In the statement, Michael Rhodin, the senior vice president software solutions at IBM, said, “A courageous footstep for the improvement and enhancement in the domain of cognitive computing”, he further added, “this application will be able to set new standards in the domain of education and training”.

Meanwhile, the statement further pointed out that as many as three partners of the company have already developed applications powered by ‘Watson’s cloud platform’ – they will also market the applications very soon.
